Nestlab Advanced Node

NestLab

55116

  • 32 × 32 IR camera regulates on the rodent's surface temperature.
  • Non-invasive temperature data from the nest, without handling.
  • Bluetooth mesh: one USB-C dongle reaches up to 200 nodes.

FAQ - Nestlab Advanced Node

Do I need a monitor to use the Advanced Node?

No. The node heats and logs to its on-board memory on its own. NestLab Monitor or NestLab Professional is what lets you see the data live.

How many nodes can one dongle handle?

Up to 200. The nodes relay data for each other over the Bluetooth mesh, so range increases with the number of nodes.

Are activity, occupancy and respiratory rate validated?

No. NestLab provides these as experimental data. They are in development and not validated as study endpoints.

The NestLab Advanced Node gives you the same heated nest as the Essential Node, with a 32 × 32 IR thermal camera added. You can set the target on the animal's surface temperature rather than on the heater, and follow the animals' thermal status from inside the nest without handling them.

Each node reports its set and heater temperature, the maximum rodent surface temperature, heating power, battery and charging status, and can send a heatmap image on request. Nodes connect over an encrypted, self-healing Bluetooth mesh and can be read offline on a lab computer with NestLab Monitor or remotely with NestLab Professional.

Why it helps

  • Temperature controlled on the animal, not only on the heater, which is useful for post-operative recovery
  • Non-invasive surface temperature data from the home cage
  • Logs to on-board memory when no monitor is connected and syncs the data later
  • One USB-C dongle reaches up to 200 nodes, because the nodes relay for each other
  • Uses the same houses, caps and Smart Charger as the Essential Node
